There is nothing like a good read

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

It’s time to get started. Reading must start young as one can never have too little books nor too much fun.

Looking back on the day i started introducing reading material to my son, Lun. He was just about 4month old.
Then, he was very curious and ready for everything. I had him on my lap and a box of tiny books (Thanks to my friend, Yen.) We were crazy flipping. I had to watch out for the greedy bite and reading out loud at the same time. It was fun for both of us.

We had never graduate from those books. Now at 17months, we would still bring out the books to read. By now, i can memorise all the stories. The minute he pick up the book, flipping by himself, I would be able to sing out the story like a song.

Reading filled our spare hours. I wish to nurture him into the habit of reading. Like the way my mother did to me and my brother. Like the inspiring life story ”The pursuit of happyness”.

The most dangerous place in the world is a public library . That was, of course, only if you could read…

Our current collection has grow into a pile where a storage box will no longer able to hold them all. I will now had to retire some of his old books.  The new, Scholastic Time-to-Discover readers, books by the Melvin and Gilda Berger.  These was all bought at MegaKids , top floor of MidValley. A very bargain price. The cheapest, Rm3. These books are great for the beginner reader. There were only 10pages books, with a line sentence per page, staple bind. A great quick reading material.

When i first introduce Lun, he didn’t stop looking. Mostly because at his age, he started to search for his peers. He has no brothers of sisters, the only place he could find his peers is the garden and the study center. It is not enought for him. These books, has loads of kids. Their action and behaviour amaze Lun.

I will try to upload these books cover when i have time.

Judging a person by it’s look?

Beautiful face doesn’t always make a person an angel;
good packaging doesn’t always contain good product.
So, are you judging a person by it’s look?

Last 2weekend ago, my husband went for a voluntary service for a Dharma lecture. Some volunteer was looking quite monster  and gangster looking. When they started to talk to him, they were actually sweet and soft spoken person. Like it was all coming from the heart.

When i heard what he had related, apologizing himself for the miss judgement, my mind pop up this article and the quote above.

Lately there was a news about a bunch of good looking female students who shamelessly smack their schoolmate and uploaded the whole even online at you-tube. This had waken up our society to look into the seriousness of gangster act in school. The student, got expelled. Does that make her feel any sorry? I doubt it.
She must have felt heroine. The smacking scene make her famous online and offline. People all round the globe wanted to know who she is.

As a matter of fact. She “An angel in a monster disguise!”.

I am sorry for her family. Hopefully one day she will wake up and learn her lesson.

Hidden post editor button in the wordpress 2.1

Well this is a good news. It was quite annoying whenever i type my post. Each time the post was not align-center the way i want it to be. I had been searching at Google for the answer. Quite often there will be plenty of options. After reading all the post, i was often floating without a clear answer.

Now, again as i change my theme. The layout of all my post was looking horribly. I again search Google for answer.
Luckly i ran across solo-Technology. In his article WordPress 2.1 - More Editor Options enlighten me.

It seems that Wordpress 2.1 had a hidden post editor option.

Go from this:

To this:

Love Petai

Petai

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Parkia_speciosa.JPG#file

I had to confess my liking to petai. This vegy is a stinky food similar to smelly tofu that was popular in Hong Kong. You see, in Chinese, these two have the same words. 臭豆 vs 臭豆腐, the only different is that both are different medium. Petai is a wild growing fruit. Where smelly tofu is made out of soy and left at some places to be stinky and moldy.

I had always try to be careful when choosing the day to eat petai dish. Working days, Monday to Friday is definitely, NO! Sunday is a no-no too, as the stink smell will be worsen the next day.

There left only to Saturday. Petai is hard to come about. One might not be able to find it in the wet market even if you want to cook it.

Anyway, this hasn’t stop me from liking it.

Today, I’d receive a forwarding email of the fact of petai. Seems like petai is an incredibble food.
It even quote

A Petai a day keeps the doctor away.

Marvelous right?
