Tired of commuting on KTM ?
Our KTM service was an iconic type. They would never on time, always break down and stuffy. Not to mention always pack like sardine. Well, we can’t blame the passenger that squeezes in. Nobody wants to waste their time for the next train. It might come as late as an hour. Who wants to wait for 2 hours for a train ride home?
Too bad, i had to commute daily on our faithful old KTM train to get home. I would daily try be optimistic and follow it’s time table to the train station.
As usual, we would hear the announcement for the train to arrive. And, as usual it will announce the wrong time.
“Train akan tiba dalam masa 15 minit.” (Train will be arriving around 15 minutes.) 10minutes later, it changes the announcement …dragging more time than usual. Sometimes, the announcement was wrong, it announced train delay, but the train came on time.
There were also a time when my colleague boarded the train and had an accident. The hanging bar on that train detached and fell. Everyone that was hanging on that, fell too. People were banging their heads and squashing like lemon juice. Horrible! She had a terrible headache for two days. Nobody from the KTM do anything at all… There were no compensation but i guess the passenger didn’t ask too.
One day, an incident sparkle me an idea.
Train was as usual late. Everyone was squeezed in the train. A couple of kids around 5~12yrs old boarded the train with their mummy loads with bags of goodies purchase from MidValley. They were pure soul, although packed and squashed, they can still joke around. “Mummy, this butt smells.” ,”Mummy, we are sardine fish” ,”sardine fish..sardine fish” They just kept singing the sardine fish make up songs till… My stop. They will have a long way to go till the very last stop. I hope their happy spirit will last.
